From idea to code you own
The whole process is four steps, and the first two are free.
- Pick a strategy shape, such as RSI mean reversion, a moving average cross or a trend pullback, and set the rules.
- Run the backtest. Real hourly candles are loaded and your rules are applied to them.
- Save the strategy file. It carries the exact rules and costs you tested, and gives you a reference.
- Order the export. You receive a Python bot and a TradingView script generated from that file.
What a backtest is
A backtest replays history. It takes your rules, walks through past prices one candle at a time, and records every trade the rules would have made, with fees charged.
The builder also splits the history in two. The first part is the data the strategy was tuned on. The second part is data it has never seen. A strategy that only works on the first part has learned the past and nothing else, and seeing the two side by side is the fastest way to find that out.
Four rules that keep it honest
Every one of these makes results look worse. That is the point: a number you cannot reproduce live is not worth having.
- Signals are read at the close of a candle and orders fill at the open of the next one, never at a price the strategy could not have known
- A higher-timeframe candle is invisible until it has closed
- Gaps in the data are reported and counted, never filled in with invented candles
- Each indicator uses one pinned definition, and the exported code carries that same definition
Your data and your keys stay with you
The candles are fetched from the exchange's public API directly by your browser, and the backtest runs on your own machine. We do not receive the strategy you built or the result you got.
We never ask for exchange API keys, and there is no field on the site to enter them. The exported code reads your keys from environment variables on your own computer, so they never pass through us.
Exporting the code
Building and backtesting are free. An export is €15 including VAT, paid once per strategy, with no subscription.
Sign in, save the strategy file from the builder and note the reference it gives you. Pay quoting that reference and email us the file. We generate a Python bot and a TradingView script from that exact file and send them back, normally within 1 business day, together with a hash you can check the code against. The code is yours to run, read and change.
What a backtest cannot tell you
A backtest is not a prediction. It shows how a set of rules would have behaved on one stretch of history. Markets change, and a strategy that did well in the past can lose money in the future. Trading carries a real risk of loss, and nothing in the builder is financial advice.
